# How is my account protected if my phone is stolen?

Even with your phone in their hands, someone can't get your money out of Curvo. They need your PIN or your fingerprint or face to open the app, and a withdrawal can only ever land on your own bank account.

## Opening the app
Your PIN is a 6-digit code you chose yourself, separate from the code that unlocks your phone. Without it, or without your fingerprint or face, the app doesn't open. After three wrong attempts, the app locks for 15 minutes.

Logging out and starting over doesn't help either. The SMS verification code on its own isn't enough, because your PIN is asked right after it. And the only way to set a new PIN is through **I forgot my PIN**, which asks you to log in with itsme.

## Withdrawals
A withdrawal can only go to the bank account linked to your portfolio, an account in your own name. When you withdraw, the app shows that account and doesn't let you enter another one.

## Changing the linked bank account
Changing that bank account takes more than one step and several days. You first upload proof that the new account is in your name, and the change is only applied once you reply to a confirmation email we send you. The full process is in [How do I change my linked bank account?](/en/article/how-do-i-change-my-linked-bank-account-3hrdyq/)

## If your phone is lost or stolen
Email us at help@curvo.eu as soon as you can, from any device. We can freeze your account, which blocks both withdrawals and any change to your linked bank account.

|| Two habits that make your account harder to reach: pick a PIN that's different from the code that unlocks your phone, and turn on the PIN of your SIM card so it can't be used in another phone.
